President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received Ombudsman of the country Atyr Abdrakhmatova.
Topical issues in the field of protecting the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, measures to improve the activities of the Ombudsman Institute were discussed, the press service of the head of state reported.
The ombudsman informed the president about individual and collective complaints of human rights violations, which for many years have not been able to achieve justice.
She touched upon specific cases of human rights violations, noted the insufficient work of authorized bodies in documenting kairylmans (an ethnic Kyrgyz who is a foreign citizen or stateless person voluntarily resettling in the Kyrgyz Republic), their socialization and the provision of state support.
In addition, Atyr Abdrakhmatova stressed that in connection with the 20th anniversary of the Ombudsman Institute, a new constitutional law “On Ombudsman” is expected to be adopted this year in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution, as well as in accordance with the recommendations of the UN treaty bodies to bring the status of the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan in full compliance with the Paris Principles.
At the same time, she presented the concept of the activity of the Regional Institute for Human Rights under the Ombudsman, the creation of which is planned for the near future.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted the need to strengthen the work of the Ombudsman Institute to protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, and promote the principles of equal observance and respect for the Law by all without exception.
The head of state stressed that the implementation of comprehensive and coordinated measures to protect human and civil rights is a key requirement in serving the people, stressing that all state bodies and employees are obliged to clearly and timely resolve issues of citizens on the ground.
Also at the meeting, measures were agreed to promote the best practices in the protection of human rights in order to strengthen the country’s international rating in the field of observance of human and civil rights and freedoms, as well as measures to support cooperation between human rights organizations in Central Asia were discussed. – Kabar
