ISLAMABAD, June 27: In another bolt from the blue for the inflation-stricken people, the Nepra has approved Rs7.90/unit hike in the rate of electricity under the head of monthly fuel adjustment charges.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Monday was hearing a petition seeking increase in the rates of power. The hike was approved under the head of monthly fuel adjustment charges. Nepra will release its detailed judgement later.
The new increase in the electricity tariff will put an extra burden of Rs113 billion on the power consumers. After the rise in rates of electricity, the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been increased by Rs10 per kilogram on Monday.
The LPG in the market is being sold out at the rate of Rs210 per kilogram after a new increase in price. The price of a domestic cylinder has been increased by Rs120 to Rs2,475 while the new price of a commercial cylinder has been raised by Rs455 to Rs9,532. -DNA
