BAKU, Jun 30 (NNI): Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani spent a busy day on Thursday in Baku, Azerbaijan while interacting with Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan and Mrs. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan and dignitaries from different Parliaments. In his meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, he said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy close brotherly relations based on shared religious and cultural bonds. “Our continued high-level bilateral exchanges are proof of a strong and cordial partnership”, Sanjrani observed. He hoped to continue to uphold these cordial relations to effectively align all our common interests and shared prosperity. Sharing his thoughts with President of Azerbaijan, Chairman Senate observed that Pakistan highly values its bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and these relations are based on mutual trust, respect and love. He called for expending these ties through enhanced interactions at government and business levels. He said that there is huge scope for investment in Pakistan and investors from Azerbaijan can explore opportunities through mutual collaboration with Pakistani counterparts. He also highlighted the importance of Gwadar port and said that the new port is emerging which will provide Central Asia a short route to connect with other continents for business and trade and Pakistan would welcome Azerbaijani investors to invest in different projects for mutual benefits of the two sides. During his meeting with Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Mejlis, the Chairman Senate congratulated Azerbaijan for the successful hosting of the conference of the NAM Parliamentary Network and acknowledged the leading role played by Azerbaijan in making this network promising and effective. He underscored the need for close collaboration at institutional level and give parliamentary diplomacy a chance to further augment bilateral cooperation at parliamentary and other levels.
He said that parliamentary cooperation can help bring people of the two sides more close. He expressed the confidence for tangible outcomes from the deliberations. “This NAM conference also aligns with 30 years of independence for Azerbaijan, and also 30 years of bilateral relations with Pakistan. On behalf of the parliament and the people of Pakistan, I extend to you our warmest sentiments of goodwill on this milestone” Sanjrani observed. Later, addressing the reception hosted in honor of the delegates, Chairman Senate said that Pakistan also wishes to enhance ties between our countries on all political and economic fronts. – NNI
