ISLAMABAD, July 1: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has taken valuable steps in the last four years to increase the facilities for the students. Vice Chancellor, AIOU, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum laid the foundation stone of a comprehensive ‘Student Facilitation Center’ to provide all the information and quick solutions to their problems under one roof. Registrar, AIOU, Raja Umar Younis, and Principal Officers were present on the occasion.
Project Director, Sharifullah, in his briefing, told Vice Chancellor that the covered area of the facilitation center building would be 4600 square feet and its construction cost would be Rs. 28.26 million. The center will have a seating capacity of 130 students while the call center will have 36 workstations. The project director added that a total of 12 washrooms will be constructed. He assured the Vice Chancellor that the construction work of the center would be completed within the stipulated time of two and a half months.
A link bridge has been constructed between the two parts of the university which has facilitated pedestrian access. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum has also inaugurated the bridge and directed the Chairman, Department of Agricultural Sciences to plant canopy and shade trees in the parking area between the Facilitation Center and the link bridge.-PR
