There are many political analysts in this country who don’t subscribe to the view of the defence minister that there are four parties to the Taliban dispute, namely Pakistan, America, China and Afghanistan who are going to hold parleys with the Taliban on 16th of this month. According to them neither Pakistan nor China or for that matter the American-installed Afghan government are, in any way, parties to this dispute. If there are any parties to the dispute they are US which invaded Taliban-led government after nine-eleven and which is the aggressor and the Taliban against whom aggression has been made. How come our defence minister label Pakistan, China or the present Afghan government as parties to this dispute?
America is on the run from Kabul in the sane manner in which the Soviets had once run away after their abortive attempt to take over entire Afghanistan. Despite use of modern weaponry and presence of its over one lakh army in Afghanistan, they could hold on to only 20 percent of that country. . History is repeating itself now. The Americans had also used latest weapons and over one lakh army during the past 14 years in this country but the end result is zero. The American administration is afraid that tomorrow somebody might demand reparation for the massive killings of the Afghans from the Americans and trial of American soldiers for war crimes. The Americans want that the Taliban should accept the present Afghan government as a senior partner and join it by accepting its constitution so that they could get an honourable way to pull out completely from Afghanistan. It wants to pass on the buck to the present Kabul rulers and wriggle out of the country. But the question is are the Talibans so much gullible that they would accept whatever the Americans say?
The Dubai rulers are constructing a Taj Mahal billed as Taj Mahal Arabia which will be double the size of the historic Taj Mahal of Agra. The Dubai’s Taj Mahal would provide every modern luxury human mind can think of. What is the big deal in spending massive amount on this venture? Had the Emirates rulers been sensible they would have spent their petro-dollars on scientific research in various disciplines, This reminds me the time when Europe was inventing printing press and Mughal kings in India were busy constructing palaces.
