Says government is committed to eradicatr extremism through NAP and Operation Zarb-i-Azb.
ISLAMABAD, March 30: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan is committed to eradicatr extremism through National Action Plan (NAP) and Operation Zarb-i-Azb. He was talking to the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Hulusi Akar in Islamabad on Wednesday.
He said Pakistan and Turkey enjoy brotherly relations and share identical views on international issues. President said that the people of Pakistan and Turkey are bound together in very old and strong bonds of brotherhood based on shared religious, cultural and historical affinities.
He reiterated Pakistan’s strong desire to further strengthen its partnership with Turkey in defense. The President appreciated the Turkish participation in trilateral process for bringing peace in Afghanistan and reiterated Pakistan’s desire for peaceful and stable Afghanistan through Afghan owned and Afghan led peace process.
Earlier, President Mamnoon Hussain conferred the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) on General Hulusi Akar, in a special ceremony in Islamabad.
The investiture ceremony was attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mahmood, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Secretary Defence and Ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan.
