President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received on Tuesday heads of delegations from the 24th Conference of Special Services of Turkic-speaking States (TURCON) held in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul Oblast.
Welcoming heads of national security services, the Kyrgyz leader emphasized that the Conference has become an important platform for cooperation and interaction in the field of security and has for many years served as an in-demand platform to discuss a wide range of professional problems, exchange experiences and develop the most effective models of cooperation in the field of security, his press service said.
“Today, the escalation of terrorist activity in the Middle East and Afghanistan, which has reached a scale that threatens the integrity of some states and threatens to spread far beyond these regions, requires the special attention of our services. It is possible to achieve significant results in combating these threats and challenges only through consistent and systematic work and through joint and coordinated efforts,” Zhaparov said.
The president of Kyrgyzstan noted that tnew times require new approaches to solving problems and overcoming challenges and threats.
He expressed the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to work fruitfully with Turkic brotherly peoples on the basis of these values.
On May 20, 1998 in Istanbul, the special services of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey signed a Protocol on the establishment of the Conference of Special Services of Turkic-Speaking States (TURCON). Since 2018, the Uzbek Special Service has joined TURCON membership.
