Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chairing meeting of National Security Committee at PM House, Islamabad on July 22, 2016

ISLAMABAD, July 22: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the National Security Committee in Islamabad today (Friday) to discuss national security, Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir and other regional issues.
Federal Ministers Pervaiz Rashid, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Advisor to Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, National Security Advisor Nasser Janjua, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mahmood, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Naval Chief Admiral Zakaullah, DG ISI Rizwan Akhtar and senior officials attended the meeting.
The meeting resolved that Pakistan will approach the Human Rights Council of the United Nations on its own behalf and on behalf of OIC Contact Group on Kashmir to send a fact finding mission to Indian Occupied Kashmir for investigating the slaughter of innocent civilians and impose a ban on the use of pellet guns for dispersing people exercising their right to protest.
The meeting unanimously called upon the international community to condemn these blatant human rights violations by Indian security forces and play their role in ensuring the realization of human rights of the Kashmiri people through fulfilling its commitments towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir under the UNSC resolutions.
The meeting unanimously expressed grave concern over the deteriorating situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir in the wake of Martyrdom of indigenous Kashmiri freedom fighter Burhanuddin Muzaffar Wani. The meeting strongly condemned the subsequent continuing brutal oppression of the Indian security forces over innocent Kashmiris who have been peacefully protesting against this Martyrdom.
While reiterating his condemnation over the continuous Indian oppression and human rights violations by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, the Prime Minister said that this brutal use of force is a blatant violation of fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people which no civilized society permits.
The Indian attempts to claim that the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir is an internal affair of India is factually incorrect, legally untenable and indeed a violation of international law and UNSC resolutions, the Prime Minister stated.
He said the legitimate freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people has seen several generations wherein the Kashmiris have rendered matchless sacrifices; it is our conviction that by suppressing the voice of Kashmiri people for their right to self determination, India will not be able to legitimize its occupation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The only plausible solution of the Kashmir issue would be the early implementation of UNSC resolution i.e. a fair and impartial plebiscite under the UN auspices, he added.
“We have provided and will continue to provide diplomatic, political and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the realization of their fundamental right to self determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions,” reaffirmed the Prime Minister.
While lauding the relentless and unmatched contributions and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and security personnel, particularly in the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the meeting expressed satisfaction over the gains achieved so far in effectively ensuring national security.
The meeting reaffirmed its resolve against elimination of terrorism and extremism from the motherland. The meeting appreciated the role of military and civil intelligence agencies against the nefarious designs of the international agencies and hostile countries.
The meeting decided that effective border management system between Pakistan and Afghanistan should be introduced and enforced as it is in the interest of both the countries. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the Indian-occupied Kashmir will soon become part of Pakistan.
“The day is not far when Jammu & Kashmir will become Pakistan. No one can stop freedom movement in occupied Kashmir,” the prime minister said while addressing a rally in Muzaffarabad after the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the front-runner in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
The prime minister thanked his party supporters for “rejecting negative politics and making the PML-N victorious in AJK polls”.
“I am not accusing anyone nor am I using bad language against anyone,” said the PM. “I did not respond to any negative talk of my opponents because I think success in politics does not lie in staging dharnas but in doing something [for the people].”
Promising rapid progress in the valley, Nawaz said a network of motorways, roads and highways will be laid down in the AJK over the next five years. Taking a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, the prime minister said those who talk about running anti-government movement could only secured two seats in AJK. “Their [anti-government] will not be any different from their election result.”
He urged the people of AJK not to forget the sacrifices of innocent Kashmiris on the other side of the border. “While we celebrate today we must not forget the sacrifices of those who are facing the worst violations of human rights in the Indian occupied Kashmir.”-Agencies
