KARACHI, December 15: Famed religious scholar, Junaid Jamshed was laid to rest on Thursday in Darul Uloom after he died in a plane crash on December 7 besides his wife.
High-level officials of Pakistan Army, civil representatives, religious scholars, politicians, notable cricketers among scores of people participated in the funeral prayer that was offered on Thursday.
The body was shifted from Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Shifa to Karachi Development Authority (KDA) using an ambulance where a funeral prayer was offered. The prayer was led by cleric, Maulana Tariq Jameel.
Earlier, thousands of people from every walk of life offered funeral prayers for noted religious scholar Junaid Jamshed on Thursday at AKD ground in Defence, Karachi.
Maulana Tariq Jameel addressed the participants of the funeral and led the prayer. Later, thousands of people shouldered the coffin. The deceased was laid to rest at Dar ul Aloom, Korangi according to his wish.
Covered in Pakistani flag, his coffin was brought to the ground in Pakistan Navy’s protocol. His body was brought to Karachi on Wednesday evening from Islamabad through C-130 plane after funeral prayer was offered at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Nur Khan Base, Rawalpindi.
It was also attended by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, senior civil and military officials, and people from all walks of life. The family members of late Junaid Jamshed were also present on the occasion. The prayer meet was secured through tiers of law enforcement agencies.-DNA
