ISLAMABAD, February 23: Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday said that Pakistani people are getting the cheapest petrol in the world, almost free.
Speaking to media, the minister said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has stopped federal government’s search for gas and oil in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that license of the search for petroleum products was issued in 2010.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said license of 11 companies have been cancelled while issued notices to five companies. He further stated that Imran Khan is giving irresponsible statements, adding that 4600 Barrel oil and 396 MMBT Gas are being emitted from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on daily basis. He was of the opinion that the provincial government is not doing any work regarding search of oil and gas.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said gas pilferage worth of six to eight billion rupees has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said provincial Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak has expressed his inability to check gas theft cases in the province.
The Minister said he will soon proceed to Iran to discuss Pak-Iran gas pipeline project.-Online
