ISLAMABAD, August 26: “The importance of computer and information technology is increasing day by day and it is the need of the hour to familiarize the young generation with the use of technology and provide them with training,” said the registrar of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Raja Umar Younis in his address at the certificate distribution ceremony to the students and teachers who participated in the seven-day summer workshops.
He said that the Vice-Chancellor, AIOU, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum is paying special attention to increasing the skills of the employees, faculty members, and students. The registrar directed the Department of Computer Science to continue conducting such training workshops and said that the university will provide full support in conducting these types of training workshops.
The Registrar, while congratulating the students who received the training, said that the Department of Computer Science and trainers also deserve appreciation. He added that the university is also paying special attention to the promotion of technical education.
Chairman, Department of Computer Sciences (DCS), Dr. Saleem Iqbal said that according to the vision of the Vice Chancellor and under the leadership of the Dean Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Irshad Ahmed Arshad, DCS designed the staff and community development summer workshops, organized from August 10 to August 16, in which free training in computer coding (from basic office automation to programming courses) was provided.-PR
