KPK Govt sets target for enrollment of 8 lac children to schools

PESHAWAR, April 8: KP Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan said that huge dropout rate of children from schools was a great challenge for the government as well as nation adding that the PTI led provincial government was following a meaningful educational policy which was yielding positive results.
This he stated while addressing the inaugural ceremony of schools enrolment campaign 2016 at Peshawar on Friday. The ceremony was also addressed by Additional Secretary Education Qaiser Alam and Mr. Peter of British Council. Beside others, Chairman BISE Peshawar Prof. Dr. Shafi Afridi was also present on the occasion.
Formally inaugurating the enrollment campaign, the Education Minister maintained that the government achieved the target of admission of seven lacs children last year and target for the year 2016 is 8 lac which would be achieved accordingly.
Atif Khan continued that each and every child to schools was the mission of government and for the purpose household survey would be conducted this year. He added that government schools would be brought at par with best educational institutions of the country for getting cherished goal of developed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Minister asserted that the provincial government was spending billions of rupees on provision of better educational environment in government schools as so far Rs. 14 billion on missing facilities and Rs. 12.13 billion on furniture have been utilized. He said that thousands children of private schools have got enrolled into government schools which was very encouraging and that showed the confidence of people on government schools. The Minister appealed the media to also highlight the good steps of government side by side guiding and identifying its bottlenecks.-PR
