NEW DELHI, January 15: Indian police on Friday arrested Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta in connection with Thursday’s ransacking of a Pakistan Internation Airlines (PIA) office in New Delhi, an Indian newspaper reported.
Gupta, who heads the Hindu Sena – a group of right-wing Hindu hardliners – claimed responsibility for the vandalism at PIA’s office and vented anger at Pakistan, holding it responsible for the siege at the Pathankot air base as well as at the attack on the Indian consulate in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif recently.
“Through this act, the members of our Delhi unit have expressed their anger and sent a message to Pakistan that they should respect our sentiments and keep in mind that we are not weak,” Gupta had said in a statement after the incident. Reportedly, the extremist organisation has also threatened to stop Samjhauta Express train.
According to details, the extremist organisations in India have become active to deter improving relations between the neighbouring countries. As per the Indian media, the extremist organisation Hindu Sena’s head Gupta has been arrested. Prior to this arrest, another extremist identified as Lalit Singh was arrested. The miscreants of the Hindu Sena had thrown pamphlets at the PIA office in which they threatened to stop Lahore-Delhi Bus service and Samjhauta Express.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani High Commission after taking notice of the incident has demanded enhanced security for PIA’s offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. On Thursday, PIA’s office in New Delhi was attacked by miscreants who fled the scene after leaving pamphlets.-Sabah
