PESHAWAR, January 18: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa formally inaugurated the Bab e Peshawar Flyover in a simple but an impressive ceremony here on Monday. The project costing Rs. 1.7 billion at Phase III Chowk Hayatabad was completed by the provincial government under PDA and the construction work was carried out by National Logistic Cell (NLC) in record period of five months. The project is at the confluence of settled and tribal areas that will regulate the vehicular traffic from both Hayatabad and Tribal areas. It is the first of its nature in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and only the second at national level with the length of the bridges as 2128 metres long. PTI Chairman Imran Khan, JI Ameer Senator Siraj Ul Haq, Speaker Provincial Assembly Asad Qaiser, Provincial Ministers, Senators, Advisors , MPAs, District Nazim Peshawar and Chief Secretary, Bureaucrats and elite of the area participated in the inaugural ceremony.CM Pervez Khattak addressing on the occasion said “Today is a historic day for the people of Peshawar seeing by themselves the completion of the historic Bab e Peshawar bridge within a short span of five months. It is a unique project because of quality of work and its completion in short span of time that itself ushers in a change and that is the agenda of the government.The project, he added would smoothen the vehicular traffic both from Hayatabad to city and Karkhano and from KarKhano to Hayatabad and city. The Chief Minister said the provincial government was spending Rs. 20 billion to complete the 20 KM long missing link of ring road. In the first phase Charsadda Road, Pajagi road dualization and the construction of a bridge on the Budhani Null had been completed and a flyover at Charsadda interchange is to be completed. Work on the four kilometers long Pajagi Taro Intesection has been taken in hand and flyovers from Pajagi road and Warsak are parts of the project. This project will cost Rs.7 billion. Another Rs.12 billion would be spent on the remaining  northern ring road. The provincial government has issued Rs. 3 billion for the acquisition of land for the project and the next ADP will have provision for the construction work on the project, he added.-PR
