PESHAWAR, May 8: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education, Musjtaq Ahmad Ghanni Sunday said that present provincial government has taken first step to meet industrial demand in the province and has decided to establish first ever technical university in Nowshera and Pak-Austria Fachhochschule – Institute of Applied Science and Technology in Haripur. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of new sites of Institute of Applied sciences and technology at Mang, district Haripur.He said that the project would be completed in seven years at a cost of Rs. 9.30 billion, adding Pak-Austria Fachhochschule – Institute of Applied Science and Technology shall give high quality education equivalent to European stand with lowest possible cost in province.
He said the institute would offer dual degrees of the Austrian partner technical universities to its graduates. Starting this year up to 25 PhD faculties shall be sent to Austrian partner universities for two years training who, on return, shall serve the institute to best of their capabilities.
He mentioned that about 200 PhD level faculty members will be trained in Austria for periods of up to six years during phase 1, 2 and 3 under Human Resource Development programme, Scholars and faculty holding M.S/M.Phil or equivalent qualifications will be sent to Technical Universities in Austria for four years to obtain a PhD degree in the relevant discipline and then sent for further training for up to two years to the partner Fachhochschule for understanding the system of education being imparted, he added.
Mushtaq Ganni said that during his recent successful visit to Austria, an agreement regarding affiliation of University of Haripur with top five universities of Austria have been made that would enhance of our capabilities to provide international standard practical education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.-PR
