ANF seizes 6.634 tons of narcotics worth Rs 4.089 billion

RAWALPINDI, May 09: The Anti-Narcotics Force in 6 countrywide operations at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Mianwali, Peshawar and Qilla Abdullah have recovered 6.634 tons of drugs, the ANF said Monday.
The drugs comprised 6.626 Ton Hashish, 7.1 Kg Heroin, 915 Gram Ice and 10 Ecstasy Tablets, along with recovery of 2 Rifles and 1 Pistol. During the operations, ANF arrested 7 Drug Smugglers and impounded 2 vehicles. The worth of the seized drugs amounts to Rs 4.089 Billion in International Market.
According to details, ANF Lahore while carrying out intelligence led operation, raided a godown in Al-Aziz Plaza, Main Market, Sambrial, Sialkot, resulting in seizure of 1280.2 Kg Hashish along with a 44 bore rifle, 1 magazine and 6 live rounds. In another operation, ANF arrested a drug supplier namely Abdul Razzaq and recovered 4 Kg Hashish from his personal possession. He was arrested at Multan Muzaffargarh Road near Mianwali City.
ANF Quetta in a successful intelligence led operation seized 5.342 Tons of Hashish. The drug was concealed at an uninhabited site located in mountainous area of Killi Suleman Khel, Tehsil Gulistan, District Qilla Abdullah. As per preliminary reports, the drug was placed at a cache site for handing over to another narcotics gang.
ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of information raided a house located in Akal Garh, Rawalpindi and arrested a local drug peddler along with 1.5 Kg Heroin. On pointation of the arrested accused, ANF raided a house situated at Mohallah Islampura, Rawalpindi.
The culprits present inside the house opened indiscriminate firing at ANF raiding party. However, ANF Raiding Team succeeded to enter the house after little resistance, and arrested 2 drug suppliers along with 5.6 Kg Heroin, 1 SMG and 1 Pistol.
In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi while acting on a tip-off, intercepted 2 cars including Honda City and Mitsubishi Lancer at PWD Link Road near Bahria Town, Islamabad and arrested 2 local drug suppliers along with 15 Gram Ice, 10 Ecstasy Tablets and 110 Gram Hashish. ANF Peshawar Airport Team arrested a passenger Naqeem Muqeet-ur-Rehman resident of Hangu at Peshawar Airport and recovered 900 Gram Ice concealed in his trolley bag. He intended to board for Sharjah.
All cases have been registered at ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.-PR
