  • Gilani calls for complete shutdown in IHK on Jan 26, Republic Day of India

SRINAGAR, January 22: In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has said that peace in region is not possible without settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Mukhtar Ahmad Waza addressing a gathering in Yaripora area of Kulgam said that the dispute could be resolved only when the Kashmiris were made a party to the dialogue process as the issue was the matter of their right to self-determination. Expressing satisfaction over the realization of the international community that the Kashmir dispute needs to be settled without any further delay and only way for emancipation is to give the Kashmiri people the opportunity to decide their political future by themselves.
He condemned fresh arrest spree launched by Indian forces ahead of January 26, the Republic Day of India.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (G), Syed Ali Gilani has called for complete shutdown on 26th January – the Indian Republic Day – to remind the world that India’s continued denial of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination is contrary to its claim of being a democratic republic.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world but its democratic credentials stood badly exposed in occupied Kashmir where its troops had been committing the worst human rights violations.-KMS
