Chaudri Nisar Ali is interior minister of the country and, therefore, he is in possession of information which a common man cannot have access to. His recent statement that the PPP had tried to bargain over the release of Ayan Ali and Dr Asim with the proposal that it can hit it off with the government provided they were let off is too serious a charge to be brushed aside lightly. Likewise, his disclosure that air tickets of Ayan Ali and Bilawal are bought from the same bank account is no small allegation. Small wonder the PPP stalwarts like Khurshid Shah, Aitzaz and Maula Baksh Chandio sharply reacted to the interior minister’s broadside and have, in turn , billed him as the most incompetent interior minister this country has ever had. It would have been better that instead of describing him as incompetent they should have come forward with some concrete evidence denying his allegations. The political temperature of the country is heating up, lately, with the slanging match of those who move in the corridors of power and the opposition. There are many political observers who, however , feel that there is more to it than meets the eye in the PPP’s opposition to the government which, in their view, is a charade to befool the masses The a former wants the latter to complete its stint in power and would never like to unsettle it before the next polls due in 2018.
POSTSCRIPT: The performance of Pakistan cricket team with bat and ball was much better in its final test match against England at Oval. It is good that, by and large, Sami, Asad, Yasir Shah , Sohail, Wahab, Azhar Ali and Rahat played well on English wickets in English weather conditions. Test matches on English wickets have always been a tough proposition for our teams. Despite the fact that Younas Khan also didn’t play bad and Misbah too didn’t disappoint as skipper, the fact of the matter is that both of them are well past their prime and it is about time they called it a day after the current visit of Pakistan team to England is over. To say good bye on one’s own volition at one’s prime is much better than dropped by the selectors.
