file-photo-1471586008-2437ISLAMABAD, August 19: United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said resolution of Kashmir dispute is imperative for regional peace and stability.
In response to a letter from Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in which he had apprised the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, about the grave situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir where the large-scale violations of human rights were being committed by Indian security forces, the UN SG has, inter-alia, deplored the loss of life and hoped that all efforts will be made to avoid further violence. He has once again offered his good offices to facilitate dialogue for a negotiated settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
The Secretary General also appreciated the continued commitment of Pakistan to the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute for the sake of regional peace and security as the United Nations remains convinced that it is only through dialogue that the outstanding issues between Pakistan and India, including on Kashmir, can be addressed.-Sabah
