EAD, World Bank sign agreement on water sector management

ISLAMABAD, January 27: Secretary Economic Affairs Division (EAD), Tariq Bajwa and Country Director World Bank, Patchamuthu Illangovan on Wednesday signed agreement of US $ 34.95 million as additional financing for Pakistan Water Sector Capacity building advisory services project.
Keeping in view the significance of water and energy resources for the country, the Government of Pakistan had requested World Bank for additional financing of US $ 35 million for the Water Sector. An agreement in this regard has been signed accordingly.
Financing under the agreement would help improve management, investment planning and capacity building for basin level management of Indus Water Resources. Senior officials of the EAD and World Bank attended the signing ceremony.-DNA
