ISLAMABAD, September 10: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that the government has invested billions of rupees in the energy sector to end load shedding and provide cheap electricity to consumers.
He was talking to leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafar ul Haq who called on him in Islamabad on Saturday. Prime minister said government is making all out efforts to resolve power and gas shortages in the country.
Ministry of petroleum and natural resources is encouraging investment in the oil and gas exploration. It is pertinent to mention here that the government has started the process to award thirty two new oil and gas exploration blocks to the exploration companies.
According to officials, the ministry of petroleum and natural resources is encouraging investment in the oil and gas exploration. They said that exploration activities have picked up momentum in recent times and some important discoveries are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in near future. They said that a total of eighty two discoveries of oil and gas have been made over the last three years. The production from 45 out of the total discoveries have already been started, whereas, necessary work over 37 discoveries is being carried out by exploration and production companies to bring them on production.-DNA
