SRINAGAR, January 31: In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (Geelani) has expressed concern over the mysterious survey being conducted by Indian Army and police in the territory.
The APHC (G) in a statement issued in Srinagar, Sunday, asked the authorities to explain why the people were being forced to mention their sect instead of religion in the survey form. The statement said the personnel of Indian Army and police during their door-to-door visit ask unnecessary questions and harass the inmates. The Hurriyet said, after failing to crush Kashmiris’ freedom movement through policies based on military might, India is now planning to divide the people on sectarian lines.
APHC (G) Secretary General, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the silence of United Nations and world community was encouraging Indian occupational forces to continue committing grave human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Hurriyet leaders Firdous Ahmad Shah, Bilal Siddiqi, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Javaid Ahmad Mir and others visited the grave of Wamiq Farooq in Srinagar and paid glowing tributes to him on his 6th martyrdom anniversary, Sunday. The 7th class student was killed when a teargas shell fired by Indian police hit him at Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar on 31st January 2010. Jammu Kashmir National Front Chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan addressing a party meeting in Rafiabad paying tributes to the martyrs of Lolab and Kupwara, demanded probe into the massacres by an international independent body.-KMS
