The PML (N) shouldn’t rejoice over its victories in the bye-elections, mostly by narrow margin over the PTI candidates. The fact of the matter is that the PTI has, over the years, succeeded in building up a substantial vote bank in the country. It can spring surprise in the coming general election which should be a matter of concern for Nawaz League.
The PTI has left PPP far behind in terms of popularity in the Panjab and the KPK and revival of the PPP seems to be a remote possibility in these two provinces given the fact that the old faces which were instrumental in its downfall continue to occupy key position in the party’s hierarchy. One wonders if inexperienced young Bilawal could do much to swing much votes to his party singlehandedly unless he has a team comprising honest and dedicated workers at his command. Of course, the PPP can bounce back provided intra-party elections are held at once to which Zardari who still calls the shots inside the party might not agree as he doesn’t want to part with his cronies .In Sindh the PPP has been in power for about a decade without delivering much. The Sindh card has been used by it up till now to remain in power but till how long can it use it effectively if it continues to put up a pathetic performance?
What is the JI up to? One doesn’t understand its antics. Why has it sided with Nawaz League in some bye-elections is not understandable?
The ANP stands discredited in the eyes of the electorate in the KPK. Stories of corruption galore of its ministers which were the talk of the town are still fresh in the memory of the people who are not going to forget them when they go for the polls in the 2018.
