ISLAMABAD, February 1: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has said that the federation will feel jolts if the constitution was twisted any further. “The constitution of Pakistan is federal and democratic. The presidential system, which was introduced in 1962, flopped. This system weakened the country. It is being talked about these days. The presidential system has failed miserably in the past. If joke is cut with the constitution, then federation will feel strong tremors,” he said while addressing a ceremony here on Monday. Rabbani regretted that it was being instilled in minds of the youth that all politicians were corrupt and they were being harangued almost at every forum. “There is a serious gulf and lack of coordination between masses and the parliament,” he said, however, adding that the current regime (federal system) was the best form of arrangement to run the country. -Online
