  • Says State responsible for CPEC security, not PML-N

parvez-elahiLAHORE, October 30: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that threat is to N-League government and not to CPEC project.
He said this while talking to a representative delegation of traders at his residence here Sunday.
He said that this project is not between China and N-League but between states of Pakistan and China, Pakistani nation and the army are its protectors, as such no harm will at all to Pak China Corridor project with the departure of the present government and rather it will be completed in a better and more transparent manner.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that 75 per cent of investment provided by China for Pak China Economic Corridor i. e. 35 billion dollars out of 46 billion dollars are meant for power projects whereas track record of present government is that its power projects have failed during last three years.
He said when their not a single power project has been successful then what the guarantee that during their staying in power 35 billion dollars out CPEC for power projects will also not sink and allocated funds will be utilized in a transparent manner, Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif are crying CPEC, CPEC but people have come to know that they are not worried about CPEC but concerned about their commission which seems to be sinking now, as such it will be more appropriate to say that opposition protest is not threat to CPEC but to the corruption of the government.
Ch Parvez Elahi said further that in August 2013 Nawaz Sharif had announced Gadani power project at a cost of 9 billion dollar claiming it will produce 6000 megawatt of electricity but this is shut, 12 billion Nandipur Power project cost had increased by the present government to Rs 72 billion but this project was shut next day of its inauguration by Nawaz Sharif, 1. 8 billion dollars Sahiwal Coal project has also flopped, nobody knows for this project required standard of coal will from where and how it will reach the project site, Quaid-i-Azam Solar project drama has also flopped and now it is being given on contract to avoid bad reputation and even Neelum Jhelum project which was started during our tenure has not been completed by this government either. -NNI
