KARACHI, November 25: Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said on Friday that opposition parties besides PTI need to come out on roads and protest against ineffective policies of the government.
He conversed with journalists after landing at Jinnah International Airport for three-day visit of downtown Sindh.
Qureshi urged all opposition parties to protest against leaders’ corruption and policies that were not catering to nation’s interest. He said that joint opposition had tabled a bill in the Senate and if the government was serious it would have approved that.
He claimed that the government was brining 24th amendment over legal team’s counsel in Panama Leaks case as the leaders have realised that their case was quite weak.
Qureshi said that Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Bill was controversial and demanded the government to neither move it nor bring 24th amendment until Supreme Court (SC) passed a verdict in Panama Leaks case.
Vice-chairman of the political party said that its members did not accept Nawaz Sharif as country’s premier however, appointment of a new army chief was a constitutional requirement and thus it was hoped that the nation would be given a military leader who was making capable of courageous decisions.
Qureshi belongs to a party that has held the longest sit-in in country s history against the government of Nawaz Sharif in 2014. PTI also led many rallies across the country and is still adamant that the Prime Minister does not deserve to lead the nation owing to his alleged corruption. -DNA
