ISLAMABAD, December 6: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday said that postponement of SAARC conference halted the progress in economic and social sectors in the region. He said Pakistan is pursuing a policy of preferential trade over financial aid. He said that mutual cooperation at provincial and national level is underway to achieve the goals of sustainable development. He said with commitment and maturity, economic progress is being assured.
Addressing a seminar organized by SDPI in Islamabad, Sartaj Aziz said that though economic progress and properly using resources poverty could be elevated.
He said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was reflection of exemplary relations between Pakistan and China. He said that for sustainable development both the countries cooperation between the two countries both at national and provincial level was underway. He added that they would ensure economic progress and development through their political will and seriousness.Sartaj Aziz said by investing in common man, many issues within a state can be averted before they arise or get worse. He said non-discriminatory approach and optimum utilization of resources was imperative for ending poverty.He said progress and stability in the region was possible through regional connectivity and mutual sharing of experiences in different fields.
