Till yesterday some of the PPP leaders used to say that Imran Khan is in a hurry to become PM.One wonders what would they say now when their own leader Bilawal who is still in his salad days declares that he would be the prime minister of Pakistan in 2018.By the way didn’t any body in the PPP tell him that there is a constitutional bar on any person becoming PM of this country in case he is not 35 or does the PPP think it can sweep the next polls and after removing this ban enable him to be the next PM of the country ?
Syed Khurshid Shah says the PM can declare the date of elections in May next year. His statement seems to be as ridiculous as that of Bilawal because an early election would do more harm than good to the PPP for a variety of reason. The PPP would not be able to reorganize itself particularly in Panjab before one year where the fate of the elections would be decided.Second there are many knots and kinks in the party structure which need to be ironed out by the PPP’s high command before it finds its feet once again for which it requires sufficient time. The only party which is going to benefit from early polls is the PML(N) as loadshedding has been reduced to a considerable extent and the Gwadar project too has been proceeding satisfactorily. Both these projects are going to be cashed in by the ruling party at the hustings.
A great deal depends on the forthcoming verdict of the supreme court in the Panama leaks case.In case it goes against the prime minister the PTI would be the biggest beneficiary of it whenever the polls are held in the country.
The way almost all political parties have been holding public rallies and flexing their muscles suggest that they have started their undeclared election campaign in the hope that anything can happen in the aftermath of the wake of Supreme court verdict forcing the government to call for an early polls.
