The killing of notorious dacoit, target killer and extortionist nicknamed as Baba Ladla at Karachi the other day in a shoot -out with the Rangers was a major development in the crusade being carried out against the criminals in the Liyari area of Karachi . It is being said that some of the key figures inside the provincial government had been patronising him after another notorious criminal of the area Uzair Baloch fell out with the PPP.
The insiders believe that criminals like Ladla who were pawns in the hands of the local political bigwigs of the provincial capital of Sind would continue to crop up unless the political element behind them who bankroll and provide political support to them were exposed and weeded out by proceeding against them in the court of law.
So intimate are the local policemen with the serial killers like Ladla and the likes of him that they attend private functions in their houses in plain clothes and partake ambroisal food served there.
The confessional statements of those criminals who have been arrested by the authorities must be made public and on their basis the politicians lending support to them need to be taken to task.
