ISLAMABAD, March 29: Naheed Khan , Personal secretary to the slain Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto, has filed an appeal in Supreme court of Pakistan with regard to registration of PPP.
The appeal was filed in the apex court against the verdict of Islamabad High Court (IHC) through barrister Iftikhar Gilani and it was maintained in the appeal that PPP has no relation with Asif Ali Zardari because Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) whose sign is ‘Arrow’ is registered on the name of Asif Ali Zardari, saying that ‘JIyalas’ are heirs of the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s party having the sign of ‘Sword’.
It was contended in the appeal that registration of PPP on the name of Latif Khosa is illegal because political party cannot be registered on the name of any person till two years after his retirement from the post of governor.
It was said in the petition that PPP was not registered on the name of any person when Naheed Khan submitted an application for registration of PPP on her name; however, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) registered PPP on the name of Latif khosa while Islamabad High court (IHC) did not consider the facts during the hearing of petition of Naheed Khan.
It was prayed to the apex court that the verdict of the high court should be declared null and void and order should be passed for registration of PPP on the name of Naheed Khan.-Sabah
