According to New York Times, the South Korean prosecutors are seeking an arrest warrant for the recently impeached President Park Geun-hye on charges of bribery and abuse of power.
As I read this news there was a moment of painful ‘envy’ for me. For a while I wished Pakistan had been South Korea— or like South Korea.
If your memory is as good as mine, you should remember how ‘ferociously’ Raiwind’s Mian brothers had vowed to drag the-then President— Mr Asif Ali Zardari— into the streets— and cut open his belly to retrieve all the billions of the country he had swallowed.
Mian Nawaz Sharif became Prime Minister in the mid of June 2013. The nation has kept waiting since then for the country’s prosecutors to visit Mr Zardari and Tell him: “there is a time to rejoice in corruption Mr President. And there is a time to pay for it. We have this unpleasant responsibility to take you where you really belong.”
The wait continues, as our country enters the first phase of the next electoral battle. This time however Mian brothers too are on the receiving end.
Mr Asif Ali Zardari is telling them: My corruption has yet to be proved. Yours stands proven. It will be a gorgeous idea to make you pay for what you have done to the country. When I left the Presidency, the Nation was cringing under heavy debt. Today the Nation stands crushed and lifeless under the mountains of billions your accountant has borrowed from all over the world. I gave great dimensions to the art of ‘the abuse of power’. But you have made the ABUSE OF POWER a religion, which you are practicing with great fervor.”
Isn’t it time the Nation rises in protest against this FARCE they call Elections?
