Beating West Indies cricket team on its home grounds has always been a difficult proposition. By and large, our team has fared well in all the versions of the game up till now in their current tour of the Windies. Granted that the key West Indian bowlers and batsmen are not playing in the current series because of their commitments in the IPL, but still the present West Indies cricket team has the required potential as it has proved itself to be a hard nut to crack and, therefore, it cannot be written off completely. Didn’t it perform well against Pakistan up till now?
Misbah is to retire after this tour. Younas Khan is also playing his last series. There was a report that Younas is reviewing his decision to retire. He should never change his mind because in that case he might become a laughing stock of cricket fans. He is on the wrong side of 30 and in that age reflexes of sportsmen become poor. Whosoever has been advising him to reconsider his decision to retire is no friend of his.
Players like Shoaib Malik and Omar Gul too have played enough cricket and they should also start thinking seriously about hanging their gloves in order to pave the way for the injection of flood blood in all the three versions of the game.
The PSL has thrown up many promising cricket lads who have the makings of great cricketers provided they are groomed and given a fair chance to prove their worth. Nobody is indispensable. The selectors should have faith in the new comers.
