Did you feel any pity for Khwaja Saad Rafique when he virtually pleaded the guilt of Sharif family by saying: “By digging our grave you are infact digging your own grave too.” ?
The diatribes of Abid Sher Ali were more crude yesterday whereas Khwaja Saad Rafique sounded more like one of the tragic heroes of Shakespeare. Othelo? Hamlet? Macbeth?
I fear that Shakespeare’s admirers and those of his characters are going to mind mentioning Khwaja Saad Rafique in as respectable a context as this. But let us concede Khwaja Sahib is made of stuff that is superior to the one that has gone into the making of Abid Sher Ali, Rana Sanaullah or Danyal Aziz.
The message that he has tried to give to Imran Khan is: “Now they are coming for us. Soon enough they will come for you. Couldn’t we have worked out some formula to co-exist?”
The problem with this line of thinking on the part of Khwaja Saad Rafique is that he has grossly mis-read the alphabet of Imran Khan’s genome.
He is accumulator of laurels, not of bank accounts.
He wants to go down into history—-not into the record books of property-owning.
