ABDULLAH MUSTAFVI
Turbulent times for Pakistan, as usual! A disturbing regional scenario adding complexities on account of unhappy neighbors Afghanistan, India and Iran. A historic uprising in Kashmir against decades long Indian state sponsored terrorism coupled with LOC cease fire violations by Indian army are not routine developments. A crisis is gradually worsening in Afghanistan and Kashmir with every passing day. It is a story of persistent failures of USA and India in Afghanistan and Kashmir respectively. Both are not ready to accept their follies. Both have two rivals in this region, China and Pakistan. Both have a common escape goat, Pakistan ! Frequent verbal cannonade on Pakistan is a common practice and over a period of time here in this part of the world we have been conditioned to a great extent to such venomous moves. Modi – Trump recent moot and highly objectionable American stance towards Kashmiri freedom struggle has further confirmed the motives of both allies. Eventually, our foreign office responded in a much desired and long awaited tone. PM has also spared some of his precious time and presided a high level meeting to analyze the recent diplomatic challenges. Definitely, Pakistan has to be more vigorous and cautious on diplomatic front. Side by side, another challenge is rapidly rising to test our collective wisdom. A well thought out campaign is being run, through all tools of modern media, to widen the gap between civil and military quarters. One can easily feel the intent by concentrating upon the ‘twisted reporting’ of few recent events like ‘Dawn leaks’, Gen (R) Raheel Sharif’s new assignment in KSA, Panama case /JIT proceedings and Parachinar terrorist attacks. Who does’nt know that our internal stability is not acceptable to Indo-USA nexus in the larger regional chess board setting. Confessions of Khal Bhoshan Jadev and open statements of Ajeet Doval are the true reflection of Indian well thought out policy. Pak Armed forces stand as the biggest hurdle in Indo-USA ‘offensive advance’ in this region. Their regional game is being spoiled on western front where the RAW sponsored terrorist net works have been largely uprooted. Devilish moves from Afghan bordering areas are being beaten back successfully. Exposure of Khalbhoshan Jhadev’s terrorist net works in Balochistan and Karachi is just like another feather snatched from Ajeet Doval’s cap. American pinch is also understandable why Pakistan is not obeying Washington blindly? Why Pakistan is not ready to cap and subsequently roll back the nuclear program ? Why Pakistan has not yet collapsed because of unmanageable governance vacuum and uncontrollable corruption? Why linguistic and sectarian fault line is not materializing like it worked in east Pakistan? The hurdle is very clear ! It is undoubtedly the armed forces of Pakistan. Military establishment’s Institutional support to political leadership in all weak areas has enabled civil sector to avoid absolute disaster during the most turbulent times. Our enemies precisely know the point where they should strike to get the maximum damaging effect. Maligning Pak army and defaming its leadership through proliferation of baseless themes is than old practice. Recent release of much talked about book ‘Contractor’ written by a known American spy ‘ Reymond Davis’ is the latest move on this account. Quite obvious and interestingly foolish too. Sudden and surprising free circulation of this book on social media itself speaks volumes about it being a propaganda stuff. The writer, Reymond or whosever, has mentioned it in author’s note that the information related to American interest has been kept concealed. So this book has a blessing and an unannounced vetting from the ‘Reymond’s employers. Bitter fact is that Reymond was released by a court, through highly controversial application of ‘Diat’ Law, under the state arrangements. Should we feel proud on it or ashamed? Get answer from your conscious. Book names Haqani, Asif Zardari, Nawaz Sharif,Yousaf Raza Gillani and Gen (R) Pasha who contributed towards the release of ‘Reymond Davis. Government and opposition were ready to release the Reymond. Task was assigned to the premier agency and it was accomplished. Few media circles are just projecting it as a sole act of Gen (R) Pasha or military establishment. This is unfair! This is what probably the book aims at. We should be able to see the intent precisely. Reymond was an American spy. America grades Kashmiri freedom fighters as terrorists and blames Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism in India and Afghanistan. America demands a roll back of Pak nuclear program to strengthen the policing role of India. A book from one of American spy carries no importance for Pakistan. However, we should be really worried about few disturbing facts. First, American embassies house the spies. Two, Haqani like Pro-American sympathizers can play havoc with national interest. Three, when it comes to America, our all state institutes are compelled to bend. It is pertinent to think upon few relevant questions as well. One, why does a serious trust deficit exist between USA and Pakistan? Two, how a spineless Pak state machinery managed to arrest a person like Reymond for which USA president had to personally maneuver around? Three, Did Gen (R) Pasha really ensure winding up of ‘Black water’ net work after Reymond’s arrest? Four, why the decision of Reymond’s release taken by political leadership was executed through ISI? I think our media giants will never attempt upon these questions. Kiddish stuff of Reymond’s fabricated memoires can be rightly judged from this funny claim that Gen (R) Pasha was all the time sitting in the court room and passing on the ‘Running Commentary’ to some American official. Question rightly arises that why our media could not locate General there? Was Gen (R) Pasha putting on a ‘Sulemani Cap’ or Harry potters famous Cloak?
