ISLAMABAD, March 16: An accountability court on Friday adjourned the hearing of Avenfield reference against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family until March 20.

The accountability court (AC) judge Muhammad Bashir was conducting hearing of the Avenfield reference against the Sharif family.

Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (R) Safdar appeared before the court amid tight security.

In today’s proceedings, Wajid Zia, prosecution witness and former head of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed by the Supreme Court to probe into the Panamagate scandal, recorded his statement and submitted before the accountability court the original Qatari letter.

He also presented land registry of Nelson and Nescol companies in the court which made part of court record.

Earlier the ousted Prime  Minister Nawaz Sharif alleged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of deceiving the nation.

Talking to media inside accountability court, Nawaz Sharif said everyone knows who is behind PPP and PTI, adding that these parties only wish to come into power through a secret door. He suggested to always welcome positive amendments in the system as several things unearth during intensive situations.  The former PM announced that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will perform his role during upcoming General Elections and that judicial amendments will be his mandate this time. On the other hand, prosecution witness Wajid Zia, former head of the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has submitted a real sealed letter of Qatari prince in accountability court hearing references against Sharif family. Wajid Zia presented the letter after which Maryam’s lawyer said it’s not the letter that was submitted on Thursday. Zia’s counsel told that this letter was received from Supreme Court’s (SC) registrar office while the other one was obtained from Foreign Office. Trust deed of Maryam and Hussain Nawaz was also presented in the court over which Wajid Zia said that he wants to show the documents of Dutch bank but he is not finding them at this time. -DNA
