ISLAMABAD, September 3: The presidential election will be held tomorrow on Tuesday to elect the 13th President of Pakistan for the next five years.
Arif Alvi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Aitzaz Ahsan of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) backed Maulana Fazlur Rehman are vying for the coveted seat of the Head of State.
Additional Director General Election Commission Nadeem Qasim on Monday, while briefed media on the conduct of the elections, said the the presidential elections will be conducted by secret ballot.
The polling will begin at 10AM and continue till 4PM. The presiding officer will count the votes after the voting duration has passed.
He said that Chief Election Commissioner will submit the results to federal government on Wednesday, who as per the law will announce the final result.
He said that only state-run TV will be allowed to record the process and will share the content with other media channels.
Meanwhile,a joint session of parliament has been convened at Parliament House in which members of National Assembly and Senate will exercise their right to vote.
Similarly, provincial assemblies will hold sessions tomorrow for the election. Police and Rangers will be deployed for security purposes.
He said that four nomination forms for the presidential elections were accepted and eight others were rejected. PML-N’s Ameer Muqam had withdrawn his nomination form and thus there were three candidates remaining.-Agencies
