ISLAMABAD, December 5: While hearing the case regarding Zulfi Bukhari’s dual-nationality, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on Wednesday has said the court will intervene upon appointments on nepotism basis.
The court resumed the hearing of the case today. During the hearing, CJP said earlier the court had dismissed Afzal Bhatti and the verdict was unexpected for some.
However, he added, the court’s verdict will not be changed if it is disappointing for any one.
The hearing was adjourned till December 26.
Earlier, on November 4, Imran Shafique, special prosecutor with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi, had resigned citing “personal reasons”.
“My service with the NAB has been a great and profound learning experience. I tried to perform my duties to the best of my abilities,” Shafique stated in his resignation letter sent to the prosecutor general of the anti-graft.
“On account of some personal reasons, I find myself unable to continue with NAB any further, thus constrained to tender instant resignation,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that Imran Shafique had opposed removal of Special Assistance to Prime Minister Zulfi Bukhari’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL). – Agencies
