LAHORE: Pakistan’s top cueists Mohammad Asif, Babar Masih and Mohammad Sajjad have combined hands to boycott snooker activities in the country, saying they from denied the chance to defend their IBSF World Team Snooker and 6-Red Championship title.
While addressing a press conference in Lahore, the trio told media that they were blackmailed and were asked to sign contracts without even reading them.
They revealed that they were asked to sign the contracts even with half a month left before the end of previous contracts.
When they said that they will sign them after coming back from the event, they were told to go home, denying them a chance to participate in the 2018 IBSF World Team Snooker and 6-Red Championship title.
“We were never allowed to read the central contracts in the past as well,” they said. “The contracts were made without keeping players’ benefits in mind, which equals to injustice with players.” “The federation always lied to the players, saying winning medals will result in jobs, but we never got appointments. We bagged so many wins and medal for Pakistan but never received respect in return,” they continued. “We cannot stay silent after all this.”
The players then forwarded their plea to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar to take action against injustice being done by the Pakistan Snooker Federation.
