PTM leadership apparently distances itself from openly taking anti-state stance but in fact it has adopted an anti-state stance through a sophisticated campaign. The question remained that if TLP was creating fitna in the name of religion, PTM is doing same in the name of ethnicity. If former’s leadership is in the dock, why should the PTM leadership not face similar consequences for creating fitna against Pakistan and its institutions? PTM and its social media activists and supporters are pitched against the Government and the state institutions, and trying to create a wedge between people and national institutions. It appears that PTM want chaos, confusion and bloodshed to revitalize their narrative which lost its strength after FATA’s merger with KPK. Unfortunately, PTM’s response to DG ISPR press conference has been venomous singling out Pak Army and ISI. PTM is oblivious to the latest situation in Afghanistan.
The Taliban has forced the US and Afghan puppet regime to enter into a dialogue for peace in Afghanistan and is likely to have a lion’s share in Afghanistan’s future government.
Incoming support to the PTM from Afghan and Indian agencies is likely to dry up thus leaving PTM in a dilemma. Earlier, Durand Line and Pashtunistan issues at the behest of Afghanistan and India were buried under the rubble of Afghan jihad. Anyhow, media needs to expose that ISIS backed by hostile intelligence agencies killing Pashtuns in Afghanistan, and that PTM or its Afghan supporters are not voicing concerns on Pashtun genocide? Why the dichotomy? Can PTM hold a Jalsa for Pashtuns protection in Kabul; after all President Ghani has supported PTM? Why PTM is not talking against US, NDS, RAW and Afghanistan Government for killing Pashtuns? One can understand that PTM is playing in their hands.
Last year, the Washington Post had published a treatise authored by Pamela Constable and Haq Nawaz Khan, which was supportive of the PTM, and highlighted the outpourings of its leaders maligning Pakistan’s armed forces. It however admitted foreign hand behind the movement. The authors stated: “The new Pashtun movement has received support from Afghans, including a strong endorsement from President Ashraf Ghani, an ethnic Pashtun. But this has only made the movement more controversial, because relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are tense.” There is a perception that Afghan intelligence agency NDS and Indian RAW have made inroads in the PTM as well, otherwise this nascent organization does not have enough funds to organize demonstrations and rallies in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore. In his write-ups, Harsha Kakar, Major General (retd) from Indian army had highlighted the protest demonstrations by Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM).
After the assassination of Naqeebullah Mehsud, Pakistan’s detractors tried to use the situation to bring Pakistan in disrepute. Afghanistan’s Mashaal Radio and Deewa Radio had started a tirade and exploited Pashtun community by stirring anti-Pakistan sentiments. However, father of Naqeebullah Mehsud, who was killed in a fake police encounter in Karachi, on Thursday warned against using the name of his martyred son for doing politics maligning the state institutions. Talking to media, Muhammad Khan said anyone who talks against the Pakistan Army, in fact, talks against the country. He added that this propaganda must stop at once, as Pakistan Army has restored peace in most of the areas previously held by the terrorists and they offered countless sacrifices. Muhammad Khan said the Army is the guardian of Pakhtuns. Muhammad Khan has categorically stated that those raising funds in the name of his son will themselves be responsible for their actions. He said he has never allowed anyone to raise funds, and the only thing he wants is justice for his martyred son.
