The federal education minister says the difference in the educational curricula being taught in the country’s educational institutions has divided the society. Truer words were never spoken.
In a truly democratic and social welfare country, it is the state which is directly responsible for the education and Medicare of its people. It is a pity that the governments in this country have washed their hands of this basic duty and responsibility of theirs handing it over to the private sector which has commercialised it to the extent that it has become outside the reach of the common man of this country. Successive rulers in this country have never given importance to educational requirements of this country. Farsighted rulers and governments always evolve such an educational system for their people which is a happy blend of ethics and science in order to ensure that the youth of the country who join practical life after graduating from educational institutions develop balanced personalities. We require Iqbals and Rumis but we also need Einsteins. How come we are going to produce Iqbals when he have stopped teaching philosophy in our educational institutions?
It goes without saying that there is a need to give special attention to the primary education because it is at this level that nations are made and unmade. The habits and prejudices that the kids imbibe at this stage stay with them till the grave. It is of paramount importance that best persons should always be selected as primary teachers who should then be specially trained in the art of teaching the kids up to primary level. The financial needs of the primary teachers be looked after properly. They should be trained to instil ethical values in the primary school students.
