Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed could face serious disciplinary action for making racist comments to South African all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo during the second one day international in Durban.
The wicket-keeper batsman made a controversial comment in Urdu during the 37th over of the second inning which was caught by the stump mic, “Abey Kaaley, Teri Ammi aaj kahan baithi huieen hain, Hain??? Kya parhwa ke aya hai aaj tu?”
Translation: ‘hey black guy, where’s your mother sitting today? What prayer have you got her to say for you?
The commentator Mike Haysman asked Ramiz Raja, “What’s he saying there Ramiz?”
“Difficult really to translate that, It’s a long sentence,” Ramiz replied.
As per the ICC code of conduct, article 2.13 says that the use of insulting or obscene and offensive language used by players against another in the regular code of conduct.
On Tuesday, Phehlukwayo took South Africa to a series-levelling victory by scoring 69 runs on off 80 deliveries and took four wickets for just 22 runs in 9.2 overs. The all-rounder was lucky and looked shaky at the start of his inning, however, he managed to hang in there in the middle to support his batting partner.
