- There are ample likelihood for promotion of trade and economic ties between the two countries: Sri Lankan Ambassador

ISLAMABAD(Saleem Rais) Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Noordeen Mohamed Shaheid has said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have brotherly and friendly relations and there are great opportunities for the promotion of trade and economic ties between the two countries.
The High Commissioner has expressed these views during a reception in honour of Ms Saroja Srisena, DG of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka organized by Centre for Global and Strategic Studies, Islamabad and Sri Lankan High Commission. He said that he will play a pivotal rule to further promote relations between the two countries.
Ms. Saroja Srisena while giving importance to her visit to Pakistan said that great opportunities exist between the two countries in the fields of tourism, Education and Gems and Jewels.
Executive Director of Centre for Global and Strategic Studies(CGSS), Lt. Col(R ) Khalid Taimur Akram while giving importance for exchange of positive news between the two countries said that there is a need for signing of an agreement for exchange of news between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. He said that with this agreement the business community and students will be well aware of the current activities.
On this occasion, the Chairman, Regional Coordination Committee of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Khurshid Barlas, Vice President, Fayyaz Qureshi, Event Manager, Fahd Barlas and other Business personalities have talked in detail about the trade potential between the two countries. They have reaffirmed that they would try their best to take the trade on the peak between the two countries.
In his concluding remarks, the Executive Member of CGSS, and Ex-Information Secretary, Ashfaq Gondal has praised the people and Government of Sri Lanka for rooting out terrorism from the country. He has also praised the Sri Lanka Government for extending its support for quelling Dengu ailment and treatment of blindness in Pakistan.
