There is no denying the fact that there is no abundance of talent, ability, education and expertise in our political arena.
In fact our POLITICS is manned mostly by the likes of Abid Sher Ali and Talal Chaudhry. You can add the names of Awn Chaudhry from the PTI and Manzoor Wasan from the PPP. The reason behind the drought is that the edifice of POLITICS is raised on representation rather than ability. You may be an idiot of the very highest order but if you have secured enough votes to beat the closest candidate to you, you qualify to head the Ministry of Education.
Not meaning thereby that there is complete dearth of capability in Politics. There are educated, intelligent and reasonably capable persons in all the parties— like Jahangir Tareen, like Shah Mahmood, like Fawad Chaudhry, like Asad Umar, like Shafqat Mahmood, like Raja Zafar ul Haque, like Chaudhry Nisar, like Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, like Raza Rabbani, and like Mushahid Hussain. Don’t take into account their character, nor their beliefs, nor their behaviours— just their basic qualifications. The problem is that they may run upto at most two dozens in a crowd of a thousand proven blockheads and sycophants.
Doesn’t the science of governance and the field of law-making need an Academy where the aspirants to make their careers in politics, should get necessary education and training?
