What the Sri Lankan cricket team manager said in Pakistan about security situation and security arrangements during the course of their recent visit to Pakistan was in sharp contrast to what he reportedly said on reaching home after the completion of the tour. He had better clarify which statement of his was correct and he should also clarify whether he was misquoted by any newsman in this connection?
Security situation in this country has certainly improved over the years and the very fact that for quite sometime now the foreign teams and cricketers have been coming to Pakistan collectively or individually to play matches on its soil wax eloquent of this fact. It is the Indian media which has been blowing out of proportions stray incidents on the law and order front in this country just to create a negative impression about the law and order situation obtaining in Pakistan in the cricketing world.
Cricket has become very competitive and now it is not the monopoly of a one , two or three teams to dominate the cricket world. Who would have thought 30 years ago that Sri Lanka, Afghanistan , New Zealand , South Africa , Pakistan and Bangladesh etc etc would one day be able to pose a threat to the domination of Australia, England or the West Indies, to mention a few, in the world of cricket?
Many cricket playing counties during the last fifty years have produced cricketers like Fazal Mahmood, Hanif, Imran, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younas , Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Kohli Amla, Sangakara, Jaisuria, Haddle, to mention a few , who held candle to the best players of Australia, England and the West Indies.
