TASHKENT: Mr. Ghulam Akbar, Senior Advisory Board Member, Centre for Global and Strategic Studies ( CGSS ) and Editor -in-Chief Daily National Herald Tribune ( NHT ), Dr. Mahmood Hassan, Mr. Tahir Farooq, Professor Shabbir Khan and other members of the Pakistani delegation who acted as Observers during the Parliamentary elections of Uzbekistan held on December 22 paid a visit to the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan ( Oliy Majlis) on Tuesday. On their arrival in Oliy Majlis, they were accorded a warm welcome. They held a meeting with Mr. Ilkhom Z Abdullaev, Member Parliament and Chairman Committee on Information and Technology and other concerned officials.
On the occasion existing relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan came under discussion and new avenues wherein the bilateral cooperation can be initiated also remained the subject of dialogue.
Meanwhile, Professor Shabbir Khan also held meetings with Rector , State Institute of Oriental Studies , Madam Gulchenara Rikhsieva and Madam Raima Kh. Shrinova Vice Rector for International Relations, National University of Uzbekistan. Dr. Mehmood Hassan held meetings with the members of Senate and also visited BMB Group. Mr. Tahir Farooq and Dr. Mehmood in their interviews expressed their satisfaction over the recently held parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan. Dr. Mehmood also gave some suggestions for improvement in the electoral system.
