Self-praise is no recommendation. Trump suffers from narcissism for how else one can describe his statement that he deserved Nobel prize for his meritorious services in the cause of World peace. Trump’s statement in question is laughable. It reminds one of late Idi Amin of Ghana who was also whimsical like Trump and he also used to put his foot into his mouth more often than not.
Standards have fallen with the passage of time in almost every field of life. The same America which once produced stalwarts like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Eizenhower, to mention a few, has now produced a mediocre president like Trump who has made himself a laughing stock of the world by making ridiculous statements.
It is understood that the powers that be have been toying with the idea of reviving the age_old jirga system in the the newly _merged districts of FATA meaning thereby that it has finally dawned on them that they don’t have an effective judicial system that could have replaced the much_maligned FCR system. The apostles of the FCR used to insist that the jirga system ideally suited the genius of the tribesmen. It ensured quick decisions and the parties in civil and criminal cases were spared of heavy fee of lawyers. They were also of the view that if the concept of collective tribal geographical and territorial responsibility which governed the administrative and judicial system of the FATA was done away with, it would cause immeasurable loss to the writ of the state in the tribal belt and police won’t be able to control its law and order. Time has proved them right.
