ISLAMABAD, March 13: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that to change the fate of people will have to thing ahead of the politics of ballots. He said that no single country or political party could resolve the issues of violent extremism, climate change and other issues, adding that all parties would have to join hands to resolve these issues.
He was addressing the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) moot on Human Trafficking here to which he was invited as special guest, said a statement issued by the PPP.
Bilawal Bhutto said that unity is needed to find the solution of the problems, adding that the political parties can join jointly deal with the violent terrorism. He welcomed the holding of Asian parliamentary parties’ conference in Pakistan. The PPP chairman said that all the nations and parties of the world will have to work together to end human trafficking.
Bilawal said the human trafficking is an international and moral issue, adding that we should jointly work on this issue.
Bilawal Bhutto said that new global realities had thrust upon mankind new challenges that were beyond the capacity of any single state or a single political party to address and called for concerted and joint efforts to address them both within and beyond national borders.
“Human trafficking is a stain on the collective conscience of the humanity, an unacceptable barbarity and a new form of slavery in the 21st century which must be rejected, condemned and eliminated,” he said, adding that the stain and stigma can be washed by collective action of nations and mankind.
Referring to the fact that the ICAPP Islamabad moot had been organised by four political parties of Pakistan including the PPP, PML-N, PML-Q and PTI, he said that it had raised the hopes of achieving much more in collectively fighting the evils facing mankind. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari further said that he had special affiliation with ICAPP because his mother Benazir Bhutto was also a founder member of this illustrious organisation.
The ICAPP represents some three hundred political parties in more than fifty countries.
The two day international conference of ICAPP concluded after adopting Islamabad statement that reaffirmed “commitment to continue combat against this most heinous act of violence” and adopted an Action Plan focusing on raising public awareness, mapping trans-border cooperation and establishing a fast track prosecution system, through creating synergies among all stake holders.
PPP Senator Farhatullah Khan Babar said that the two-day moot was participated by representatives of various political parties in nations that ranged from Afghanistan to Azerbaijan, Bangladesh to Bhutan, Cambodia to Colombo, Malaysia to Myanmar, Palestine to Pakistan beside other countries and several international organisations.-SABAH
