Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Talant Mamytov met with Valentina Matvienko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. During the meeting, held as part of the official visit of the Kyrgyz parliamentary delegation to Russia, the sides discussed current issues of the agenda of the Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation.
Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko congratulated the parliamentary delegation and wished every success to the Kyrgyz Parliament.
“I am glad that the first official visit of the Kyrgyz Parliament of the 7th convocation started from the Russian Federation. We are grateful to Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov for his strong position and intention to develop bilateral relations between our countries, including through inter-parliamentary cooperation,” Matvienko said. In his turn, Talant Mamytov noted with satisfaction that there is full understanding between the two countries, which allows developing fruitful cooperation.
“Given the fact that in 2021 the election campaigns in our countries successfully completed and new compositions of the Jogorku Kenesh and State Duma are formed, I propose to organize this year the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Commission, which is planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan,” the Kyrgyz speaker suggested.
Valentina Matvienko proposed to actively develop interregional cooperation and recommended to include this issue in the agenda of the meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission.
A special focus of the meeting was on cooperation in the area of migration. Mamytov, touching on the topic of improving the legal status of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia, asked his interlocutor to assist in carrying out appropriate measures to remove certain categories of Kyrgyzstanis who are on the so-called “black list” and cannot reunite with their families.
Valentina Matvienko shared the concern of the Kyrgyz side in the field of migration and proposed to continue working together to solve problems in this area.
