The Obama Administration has consistently argued that the nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists constitute a much bigger and more immediate threat than the states with the nuclear weapons. The US lawmakers however don’t agree with this Obama policy and regard the states like Russia, North Korea, Pakistan and Iran having nuclear weapons posing a real threat to the world peace.
The Obama Administration and the US Congressmen have recently debated on this issue preceding a nuclear security summit being held in Washington next week. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif too will be attending this summit, and will find his diplomatic and leaderly skills being tested extensively.
It is strangely hypocritical that the West hardly mentions India in this respect.
Nor is ever heard even a casual reference to the secret nuclear arsenal of Israel. As for Iran, it is established that it doesn’t have access to a nuclear button nor is likely to acquire it soon now that it has made a deal with Washington. Quite clearly the pro-Israel and pro-India lobbies of the United States go an extra mile to create a perception that Pakistan and North Korea are the countries that require special ‘sternness’ on the part of the ‘peace-loving’ West. Russia is mentioned only symbolically as Washington knows there is utterly no likehood of ‘Russian denuclearization’ ever.
Even North Korea is only symbolically nuclear. The real threat to the ‘interests’ of the Washington-Tel Aviv-New Delhi axis is Pakistan.
The very thought of an economically stable Pakistan, led by an inspired, patriotic and brilliant leadership sitting over a proven nuclear capability gives the anti-Islam axis sleepless nights.
