Wafaqi Mohtisab Secretariat disposed of 223,471 complaints in 3 years

ISLAMABAD, March 27: In a bid to provide speedy and inexpensive justice to poor, the Wafaqi Mohtisab Secretariat has disposed of as many as 223,471 complaints in about last three years.
According to data released by Wafaqi Mohtisab Secretariat, there is zero pendency of complaints with the secretariat that is over 60 days old.
“223,471 is the total number of complaints we have disposed of from January 1, 2013 to March 26, 2016 filed against federal government agencies with zero pendency of cases,” informed Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) Registrar and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis at Wafaqi Mohtisab Secretariat here on Sunday.
Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokher said that the complaints registered against around 400 federal government departments and divisions against their maladministration which have now been disposed of within the prescribed time of law.
Responding to a question, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar stated that major departments against whom these complaints were filed included Sui-Gas, Electricity distribution companies, CDA, NADRA, Post Office, AGPR, Housing and Works, overseas Pakistanis division, Allama Iqbal open university , and Railways and other.
He apprised that as per the vision and mission of Federal ombudsman M. Salman Faruqui, the poor were being provided speedy justice within 45 days from the date of filing of complaints instead of 60 days limitation of law which is a unique example in the quasi judicial of any of the country of the world.
About the powers of Federal ombudsman secretariat, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis stated that apart from providing justice, the Federal ombudsman also has the power of implementation of its decisions and of civil court and contempt of court equivalent to the Supreme Court of Pakistan under the contempt of court ordinance.-Online
